Endometriosis is considered one of the most common and mysterious gynecological diseases, of women of reproductive age of 25-40 years. The name of the disease comes from the word “endometrium.” This is the inner membrane of the uterus lining the muscular layer and released each month during menstruatio. Distinguish genital and extragenital endometriosis. Genital endometriosis, in its turn is divided into inner and outer.

For external genital endometriosis tissue, which is similar to endometrium, located outside the uterus on the organs and the pelvic peritoneum, forming the so-called “nodules, tumors, implants, lesions, or foci of growth.” Most often, these endometriotic foci are located on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, in the back-uterine space,on ligaments supporting the uterus, on the cervix and the lining of the vagina. In cases where endometriosis located in the interior walls of the uterus, talk about inner endometriosis or adenomyosis.

Ekstagenital endometriosis is characterized by the presence of endometrioid heterotopias on loops of the intestine, rectum, bladder of the umbilical ring and on the limbs.Endometrioid heterotopias that are located outside the uterus, is a normal type of tissue and, by themselves, are not cancerous, despite the fact that in recent years there has been increased incidence of cancer of female genital mutilation in combination with endometriosis.

At the same time, during the surgical sterilization of women with endometriosis preserved reproductive function is revealed only in 1-4% of cases.Factors that increase risk of endometriosis are genetic predisposition, excessive levels of estrogen, age over 35-45 years, reduction in the duration of the menstrual cycle, increased menstrual blood loss, alcohol and caffeine, metabolic disease with visceral type obesity, effects of chemicals.

Among the most common symptoms of endometriosis is pain of varying severity, which occurs before and during menstruatio. Pain during intercourse or during a bowel movement also intensified during menstruatio. Almost every third patient with endometriosis in a careful examination of breast diagnosed galactorrhoea – a selection of colostrum from the nipple.Menstrual disorders appear in the form of scarce bleeding before or after menstrual periods or in the form of heavy menstruation.Only a small quantity of women has no signs of endometriosis, because of individual sensitivity to pain. However while any suspicions, you have to attend a doctor and pass proper examination.
